Provides direction to union craft employees and subs to meet Safety Goals, Quality Requirements, Cost, Schedule and Design requirements Develops project daily work plans for each crew and schedules with craft leadership. Ensures the union craft and or subs have the design, adequate quantities of equipment, materials, tools, and completed work package plans to be prepared to execute upcoming work. Ensures there is alternate work planned and ready to execute in case the original plan could not be executed. Attends daily pre job safety plan meetings with the union craft and subs before work is started at the beginning of the shift. Field time is very important 50% of the day will be in the filed supporting craft needs to ensure a safe productive work force. To be in the field at break times, lunch, and end of shift to ensure the D&Z work force does not have early quits or late starts. Enforces all OSHA, D&Z and owner safety rules and policies without exception to include discipline if necessary. Preforms safety audits daily. Treats subcontractors the same as if they were D&Z direct hire craft. Performing daily safety audits with them as well. Participates in all safety meetings D&Z and subcontract. Enforces D&Z work rules fairly and consistently. Ensures union craft supervision are in the field 70% of the day every day to answer questions and directing the work safely and productively. Ensure craft timesheets are completed accurately and on time by the foreman. Looks forward to ensure work is lined up for day, and weeks. Develops daily work plans with craft leadership ensuring the materials are staged for the start of shift.to ensure the craft have direction to be safe and productive. Ensures adequate PPE, tools, design, materials and equipment for a productive work force. Controls rental equipment to ensure it is returned on time and has a high utilization percentage. Manager tool crib and warehousing laydown efforts. Ensures the schedule is understood by all craft foreman and subs weekly based on the three week look ahead. Ensures the craft head count is in alignment with the craft loading of the schedule three week look ahead. No hire in’s or lay off are executed without your approval. Ensures that all work requiring certifications is done by correctly certified craft or subs. Quality assurance monitoring, quality of workmanship. Ensures all quality forms and test reports are filled out accurately and timely. Controls cost of construction including manpower, materials and equipment. Controls scope and minimizes scope changes. Performs constructability reviews of conceptual designs, bid and construction packages to support Engineering and Estimating activities. Evaluated earned value quantities installed for earned value reporting for D&Z and subcontracts.
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Site Manager
Craft Supervisors, General Foreman and Craft Foreman, Warehouse Staff, and subcontractors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for compliance and implementation of the D&Z Safety Program and Quality Program.
2. Responsible for assuring those operations are conducted in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct and the laws that govern operation. Takes a lead role in corrective action necessary to ensure conformity with quality and ethical standards. Serves as a role model and actively fosters employee awareness of and commitment to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct.
3. Responsible for developing employees’ skills / talents to support growth goals and objectives and to actively participate in periodic or annual employee reviews and appraisals.
4. Personally multiple daily engages in field walk downs of planned and ongoing work to assess status and resolve problems.
5. Keeps DZNPS and Client management informed of changing field conditions.
6. Provides input and review Construction Cost Estimates.
7. Monitor scope, scope changes, budgets and schedules to ensure construction objectives are met.
EXPECTED INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Interface with the Site Manager, Site Admin, Project Controls, Field Engineer, Safety, QA Manager and Administrative Organization.
EXPECTED EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Client, Vendors, Union Business Managers/Representatives, Sub Contractors.
Completed Apprenticeship (or equivalent) and union building trades experience
Minimum of 10 years’ craft supervisory experience in union self-preform craft labor in fixed price lump sum Projects, Maintenance / Modification environment.
LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, OR TESTING REQUIREMENTS:
SPECIAL SKILLS OR CHARACTERISTICS REQUIRED:
Excellent written and verbal skills required. Ability to delegate, communicate effectively and supervise staff and craft.
Able to work with computers for e-mail, word and excel.
Must be decisive and have skills necessary to plan, budget, and monitor progress and organize work.
