BWXT is currently seeking a MT/PT Inspector to join our growing Quality team in Mt. Vernon, IN!
Responsibilities include the performance of both:
Liquid Penetrant Inspection (PT)
Magnetic particle Inspection (MT)
Additionally, the person in this role will:
Work in accordance with written Quality Control technical procedures, manufacturing processing instructions, and verbal instructions provided by immediate supervisor.
Perform incidental grinding and polishing as required.
Use the required tools, equipment, accessories, and procedures to perform the specified inspection test method.
Evaluate test results and make accept/reject decisions in accordance with procedure criteria and provide written documentation as required. Identify defects, remove defects when directed using proper hand tools, prepare resultant cavities suitably for welding, chart general locations of defective areas, document non-relevant conditions with charts/sketches and proper written conclusions, maintain proper preheat controls during tests.
Move materials, parts and components as directed.
Set up and work from scaffolding, move major scaffolding after initial set-up, move and re-set preheat equipment as required to maintain preheat controls.
Work from written and verbal instructions and drawings.
Inform proper personnel of test results.
Be responsible for exact process and related documentation auditable by the customer.
Complete required documents providing verification of work performed
Maintain records as directed, keep work area clean, neat and orderly.
The successful candidate should have high school equivalency with at least four years of demonstrated history performing the following tasks OR a two-year technical certification with at least two years of demonstrated history (preferred):
Prior experience with MT/PT inspection
Prior experience with identifying defects, removing defects when directed using proper hand tools, preparing resultant cavities suitably for welding, chart general locations of defective areas, documenting non-relevant conditions with charts/sketches and proper written conclusions, maintaining proper preheat controls during tests
Prior experience with performing incidental grinding and polishing
Prior experience preferred in a close tolerance manufacturing/fabrication environment
The ability to obtain and maintain qualifications for Level II NDT in MT and PT Methods is required
Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass Quality Control tests consisting of written and practical examinations, as well as eye examination(s), within the required timeframes to qualify for the position

Ability to work any shift, to include nights and weekends
