-Responsible for performing operations in a specific cell
-Adjusting and cleaning the equipment of that cell and looking for opportunities to contribute to meeting production
-Shipment of high quality rails in the accordance with the product schedule and exceeding customer expectations
-Operate measuring devices such as calipers, tape measure.
-Use computer to enter data and inspections.
* The bundling area is the part of the plant where rails come off the automated line and are "bundled" and inspected before shipment. This is the final inspection before the customer sees the product. In this area manufacturing technicians are doing a wide variety of duties including but not limited to:
o -Operating overhead crane to move steel rails
o -Operating bending machine to help with any last minute details needed for rails
o -Performing in process inspections and final inspections of rails
o -Using measuring devices like calipers and micrometers for inspection
o -Documenting all inspections in the computer system as well as signing off on the rails 3 different times for 3 different inspections
* The grind room is the closed area of the plant where the process is least automated. Metalsa has robotic welders that will weld the rails, however, it takes the human eye to catch flaws on the rail that should be ground out to meet specifications. In this area manufacturing technicians are doing a variety of hands on duties including but not limited to:
o -Operating hand grinders, plasma cutters, sawzalls, and welding torches
o -Responsible for using hand tools to grind down various parts of the rail
o -Responsible for using a welder to re-weld various components and to tac in parts
o -Must use close attention to detail to ensure the rails are met with extreme quality
o -Enter all rails into the computer system and document exactly what we done on them
