Works within the shearing area to cut raw metal to specified dimensions, allocates raw material and hardware to jobs in a safe and timely manner.
Work with Purchasing to determine Raw Material requirements.
Control and monitor raw material, parts, and hardware inventory.
Print daily shear tickets.
Select proper material from storage area.
Sets up shear as required by cut requirements.
Calculate weight and number of cuts required.
Inspects work to verify dimensions.
Allocate Raw Materials to jobs in process.
Allocate Hardware to specific jobs as required.
Identify & segregate defective materials.
Monitor scrap container levels and schedule scrap pick ups.
Check print for verification of material as necessary.
Communicate with Purchasing about material shortages
Able to locate Dead Storage parts as available.
Keep Dead Storage parts properly identified until inspection has determined that the parts meet the order specifications.
Load and Unload trucks as needed
Keep area neat and organized.
Makes sure that all material is kept identified at all times.
Set up and use scales to ensure proper weights.
Communicate & coordinate with production lead regarding shortages/overages.
Actively initiate process improvements.
Become certified to drive forklift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
At least 1 year of experience working in manufacturing and operating equipment
Must have basic math skills and ability to calculate fractions
Experience operating machinery or equipment is a plus
Ability to read blueprints is a plus
