[Mechanical Designer] Mechanical Design Engineer Needed ASAP!

Our client is an industry leader OEM of self-propelled agricultural fertilizer and chemical applicators. Located in Northern Mississippi, just south of Memphis Tennessee, they began manufacturing applicators in early 2006 with just 4 employees. Machines were built one at a time in a single bay garage, taking nearly 4 weeks to complete. In the first year only 15 units were built and distributed throughout the Mid-South. Fast forward nearly 15 years, they have seen yearly increases in upwards of 50% as our products are regarded as some of the best in the industry, against some globally known OEM’s. With production nearing 175 units annually, they have rapidly grown to meet market demand with capabilities of producing units daily. We have established our brand throughout North America and Australia, with new development beginning in South America.

With this amazing growth, even in some of the most trying times in the AG industry, they continue to maintain our core values of manufacturing the best product possible. Our focus is building the next machine better than the last, and offering unmatched support to our distributor network. Even though we have a globally recognized brand, will still operate like a family owned business. This has allowed us to react quicker to the marketplace whereas our counterparts take years to make decision and implement change. Responsibilities:

-Provide leadership to the Mechanical Engineering Department
-Initiate and coordinate engineering services for the planning, design, cost estimates, and procurement of new product design and sustained product improvement
-Keep informed of industry issues and technical trends that can benefit the Company
-Supply engineering assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned
-Provide engineering and technical direction services for production employees
-Assist in developing and improving upon current manufacturing processes
-Ensure product and company reputation within current and new products by complying with ASABE standards
-Establishing procedures for the uptime and maintenance of manufactured goods
-Evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability, and safety

Requirements:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
-3+ years’ experience in an engineering leadership role (prefer experience in AG or heavy equipment)
-Strong knowledge and experience with Solidworks software
-Effective oral and written communication skills
-Project management skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
-Ability to communicate a basic understanding of technical information to non-technical employees
-Some domestic travel

-Salary: $75,000 to $100,000 (based on experience)

Performance bonus structure

end of year bonus will be awarded to the Engineer of up to 30% of the current gross salary. The bonus is structured based of the achievements in 3 categories. Each category is worth 10% or 1/3 of the bonus amount. They have not been below $2MM in revenue in over 6 years and well below the 1.5% mark of warranty expense to revenue for the last 4 years.

Category #1 Pre-tax Net Income

$0 to $500k = 0%

$501K to $1M = 25%

$1M+ to $2M = 50%

$2M+ = 100%

Category #2 Current Year Warranty Expense (Warranty Expense divided by Equipment Revenue)

3.0+% and over = $0

2.0+ to 3.0% = 25%

1.5+ to 2.0 = 50%

1.5 and less = 100%

Category #3 New Product Development & Management

-Successful Implementation of New Model Year Changes, ready for production Aug 1st.

-Progress of Set Goals and Meeting Set Milestones

-Maintaining and exceeding customer expectations on overall product quality and performance
