BHI Energy is seeking a Transit Maintenance Technician for our client, a leader in the transit industry. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the wayside, maintenance-of-way equipment, and maintaining all equipment related to the system. This Technician will be capable of operating the system from Central Control and recovery/restorative actions on the mainline or in the yard. Schedule will be either Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the following established procedures, as appropriate:
- Employees must be able to perform corrective and preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and adjustments to all systems, subsystems, and components of an electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic nature.
- Trouble-shoot complex systems and components to identify problems or failures.
- Use various electronic test equipment to diagnose/isolate faults.
- Install/repair complex wiring assemblies including modifications
- Assist in the Development of procedures or improvements on periodic inspection, repairs, maintenance, and schedules to reduce out-of-service time.
- Assist in the development of drawings, specs, schematics or other written or verbal instructions for use by lower classified personnel and assist in the development of training courses.
- Assist in the development of vehicle maintenance schedules and priorities.
- Know and utilize safe work procedures and assure that others working in the area are also working in a safe manner. Report all potentially unsafe procedures or conditions. Lead development of safe work area and procedures for new work tasks.
- Manually operating a train with passengers onboard during recoveries.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent; Preferably an Associate degree (A.S.) in a related mechanical or technical discipline and/or Vocational Training/Certification in a related discipline.
- Previous work experience may be recognized in lieu of formal education.
- Extensive experience in all phases of transit systems and transit vehicle operation and maintenance.
The right candidate will have:
- Extensive knowledge in all electronic, mechanical, electro/mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, subsystems, and components related to transit systems.
- Considerable knowledge of vehicle and wayside systems and subsystems.
- Considerable knowledge of procedures and schedule initiation.
- Ability to lead associates of a lower classification and lead training sessions.
- Ability to produce quality results in a pressure environment.
- Skilled in the diagnosis of electronic and mechanical failure identification.
