Metro Service is looking for a Tooling Engineer for a Manufacturing company in Hamptonville, NC. The Tooling Engineer is a “hands-on” position that will provide technical assistance and support to operations, resolve manufacturing issues, reduce scrap, and drive continuous process improvements. Duties for this position include:

Complete and record all steps of the Quality Inspection/rework instructions under the guidance of the Quality Engineer for each part going through the Inspection Area
Design and manage new process development, timing, setup, debug, and training
Participate in product launches to ensure a smooth transition from design and launch phases into manufacturing
Continuous improvement driver that improves profitability and efficiencies of Value Streams through implementation of process improvements, affecting scrap, labor and downtime, and drives OEE improvement initiatives and cost
Crash form, draw die, and progressive/transfer die design and development
Hands-On roll in the troubleshooting of various types of die tooling
Critique advanced product designs for manufacturability
Hands-On roll in evaluating customer quality concerns
Prioritize tooling improvements and repairs
Support APQP, DFMEA, PPAP activities

Compensation (USD):

$75,000 - $98,000/year depending on experience

Schedule:

1st Shift

Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:

4 year technical degree (Mechanical or Industrial engineering degree) or equivalent experience
5 years min experience in Metal Stamping
Able to critique die design concepts for both production worthiness and ease of maintainability
Strong technical experience with high tonnage metal stamping presses (Mechanical and Hydraulic)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an Automotive Manufacturing environment requiring multi-tasking and the ability to prioritize
Ability to function within cross-functional teams, utilizing good communication skills and a “hands–on” approach within all projects
Must be a strong “trouble-shooter” with a working knowledge of hand-tools and maintenance practices
Well versed in MS Office and CAD software and applications
Must be able to read and understand English.
Must be able to work extended hours when required
