RFQ Number 329635 Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer

Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: flow diagrams, P&ID, sizing calculations, and equipment specifications for HVAC systems, refrigeration units, fans, filters, chillers, cooling towers, nuclear glovebox design, piping, pumps, sand filters, and ducts in accordance with appropriate National Codes and Standards.

Engineering Services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.

Education Qualification Required
BS Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.

Experience/Skills Qualification Required
Candidate must demonstrate 15 years HVAC design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of NFPA 90A, 90B, 91, and 801; ASHRAE Fundamentals; ASME AG-1, 509 and 510; SMACNA; and ARI 410, 430 and 450. Candidate must have the ability to walk down systems in the field. Candidate demonstrating experience in 2D Microstation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) is preferred. Previous SRS design experience is preferred.

Work Hours:
A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each work day has a 30-minute lunch.

Area Security Access:
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE ”L” security clearance. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who currently possess an active DOE clearance. After award, candidates who do not possess an active DOE clearance will be initially assigned an uncleared badge and required to apply for a clearance.
