Our Rancho Cordova facility is looking to fill the position of Shop / Field Machinist. This candidate will work on a variety of equipment in support of manufacturing and outside field machining efforts. The ideal machinist will be able to move throughout the manual machining area and perform all operations to finish parts following blueprints provided. "Bridgeport" type mill and manual lathe experience must be at a journeyman level. Inspecting parts produced. Support field machining projects as required, using portable equipment at regional customer’s work locations. Be organized and time conscious to meet deadlines. Keep a neat and organized workplace. Design and produce fixtures for upcoming jobs.
•High School education
•1 - 2 Years working as a journeyman level machinist
•Understanding of shop practices and very strong shop math skills
•Strong understanding of blueprints and quality standards
•Strong understanding and use of the following tools: Manual Lathe, Manual Mill, Grinders and sanders, various types of presses, various types of saws, various types of inspection equipment, and various cranes and operate forklifts
•Ideal candidate will have experience with pipe end prep equipment in the areas of grinding, machining, ID / OD mounted machinery, and precision measurement for bevel preps
•Ability to stand on your feet for long periods during your shift
•Communicate with supervisor the tooling needed to complete upcoming jobs
•Manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 50lbs frequently
•Projects may include climbing ladders and working on scaffolding
•Bending, stretching and working in tight spaces is necessary on a regular basis
•Requires constant use of hands to lift and hold heavy objects
•Field conditions can be extreme with exposure to heat, cold, heights and conditions that require knowledge and ability to use a respirator
•Must be eligible to work in U.S. without Visa sponsorship
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Ability to read and comprehend blueprints
•Ability to read and comprehend measuring equipment
•Knowledge of proper machining practices
•Ability to plan and tool up for assigned machining applications
•Good communication skills
•Ability to follow detailed instructions
Working environment includes exposure to industrial or construction settings with oils, grease and solvents. Use of grinding, polishing and cutting equipment. Prolonged exposure to noise from the surrounding work areas. Proper use of the appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and engineering controls are mandatory.
This position includes but not limited to heavy lifting and carrying up to 50lbs, continuous walking and standing for prolonged periods of time, manual dexterity with continuous use of hands, wrist and arms.
