SHINE is immediately seeking an individual responsible for managing the process and resources required to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate technical training for nuclear operations and supporting functions. The position will currently report directly to the VP of Project Delivery during the Design and Construction phase and then report to the Plant Manager during the Operations phase.

The individual in this role will initially focus on developing, establishing and implementing training policies, programs, and procedures as required to operate the facility. The individual will have a close working relationship with licensing personnel to develop training plans and other materials for Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) licensed operators, and coordinate Initial License Training for the facility’s first class of licensed operators.

During the operations phase the selected individual will partner and consult with senior management to identify performance gaps and training needs to improve personnel and plant performance. The focus of the role will be to oversee the selection of the training staff, plan for maintaining the qualifications, certifications, continuous education, and quantity of technical staff and ensure the assigned training programs maintain appropriate accreditation or qualification. In addition, the role will oversee the process of developing and delivering trainee examinations for classroom, laboratory, OJT, and other environments, as appropriate, and support counseling sessions for trainees, evaluate the results, and recommend/develop individualized training plans.

We are seeking candidates with a bachelor’s degree along with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in nuclear training. Proven experience with Instructional Design techniques, architecture and curriculum design, comfortable speaking in front of groups of highly skilled individuals and the ability to effectively interact with the NRC and other regulatory staff, as required. Training management experience or diversity in training environments a plus.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls regulations (U.S. Citizen or National, U.S. Permanent Resident, Asylee, or Refugee). Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug test, fingerprinting, and a criminal background check.
