SHINE is immediately seeking a modeling engineer reporting to the Auxiliary Systems Manager who has a strong background and driven personality ready to support the development of facility and system designs prior to construction from the ground up. A successful candidate must be detail oriented.
This position will focus on supporting design efforts by utilizing 3D and 4D software for use during design and construction. The role will create and update site logistics plans and visual schedules for facility, component, equipment, and plant operations, piping isometric drawings, and drawings detailing equipment fabrication and piping layout/support. A successful candidate will be able to utilize the models created to assist design efforts, deconflict and integrate various system designs, and support oversight of initial construction plans.
Key responsibilities include developing design drawings based on input from in-house engineering and outside contractors, understanding design requirements, performing detailed design for facility, component, piping, piping support and geometry calculations to support the detailed design. The role will also include the design and maintenance of CAD libraries associated with most accessed parts, incorporating input (external and internal) to achieve detailed design requirements, creating CAD models of system/plant layouts and mechanical designs for subsystems as specified by engineering design team. Lastly, the preferred candidate must have the ability to generate standard P&ID and PFD drawings.
We are seeking candidates with at least an Associate’s degree in engineering or related discipline. In addition, a minimum of 5 years of recent CAD experience, including 3D/4D modeling, is highly desirable. Proficiency in recent versions of Autodesk BIM, Intergraph Smart 3D, SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD software is required. Experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls regulations (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Asylee or Refugee). Also, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards information which typically requires pre-employment drug test, fingerprinting, and a criminal background check.
