Contract position- Per Diem Available- $26/hr


PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Perform a variety of Electro-mechanical projects and assignments, following established procedures under the supervision of higher classified technicians and professionals.


WORKING PROCEDURE AND/OR RESPONSIBILITY ASSIGNED:
Perform work of equal or lower skill level as required.

1. Understand and apply the appropriate Industrial Health & Safety procedures applicable to each work assignment.
2. Develop an awareness of ALARA principles, specific security requirements, and the importance of observing both the Westinghouse and customer license requirements.
3. Complete basic and introductory training on all equipment, machines, and procedures required in the Electronics Technician Levels 1 & 2 criteria certification.
4. Develop an awareness of the importance in maintaining a very high level of quality, professionalism, and attention to detail during the fabrication, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment.
5. Disassemble, clean, decontaminate, inspect, repair, basic mechanical, electrical, welding, and hydraulic equipment. Work areas are often confined, and under poor conditions. Duties may require heavy lifting.
6. Exercise skill and proficiency in the use of basic hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical equipment.
7. Via training or demonstration of existing skills, operate machine tools, electrical test equipment, welding equipment, and measuring devices in the fabrication, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and maintenance of tools and equipment to the level of proficiency required in the Electronics Technician Levels 1 & 2 Criteria of Certification.
8. Read and interrupt mechanical and or electrical schematics, drawings and blueprints. Record data in required form.
9. Perform service functions of a similar nature as directed.
10. Demonstrate good house keeping practices in work areas.


This position requires extensive travel (80%-90%) and working with and around hazardous materials. This position is subject to the requirements of PCI, Westinghouse and customer security, unescorted access and fitness for duty programs.

SCOPE PURPOSE AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS

Interdepartmental Daily

Receive assignments, training, and report status. Obtain and discuss information related to work assignments and projects.

Intradepartmental Frequent

Receive assignments, training, and report status. Obtain and discuss information related to work assignments and projects.

Customers and Vendors Frequent

To obtain and discuss information equipment, specifying and ordering parts, health physics, security. This contact has significant impact on PCI image and profitability therefore professionalism should be demonstrated at all times.

Direction of others:

Explain work assignments and provide guidance to other personnel of equal or lower classification. In circumstances where the incumbent may have unique skills or abilities, the manager may temporarily assign personnel of higher classifications to take direction from the incumbent.


Direction Received

Specific instructions are provided on all new assignments and projects. Initial assignments are in a “training status”. All work is subject to route checks, and final verification. Accuracy of work and adherence to tolerances, specifications, and procedures is essential.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Academic or vocational high school graduate or recognized equivalent. A two-year degree post high school or related military training is preferred. Specific knowledge in electrical / electronics or mechanical curriculum and application is required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENT:

A minimum of three (3) years documented work experience of electronics troubleshooting and repair. Evidence of repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of portable electrical, welding or machining equipment required. . Education and certifications may be substituted for experience.
