Senior RCTs will have demonstrated a higher level of knowledge, skills, and experience than necessary to be a Junior RCT.
Qualified Senior RCT’s will have demonstrated the level of knowledge, skills and experience necessary to implement the requirements of the site Radiation Protection Program with limited supervision.
“With limited supervision” is defined as the ability to implement site-wide programmatic and/or procedural requirements with minimum necessity for clarification or guidance from Radiation Protection supervision.
In addition, they will have demonstrated a thorough working knowledge of radiation protection and are expected to be familiar with the basic principles of other safety disciplines.
They will have demonstrated their ability to train, direct, and mentor other technicians, make and/or implement procedural modifications, provide limited technical support, aid in and conduct program/field audits/surveillances.
Senior RCTs will be integrated into the FRNP RP program and will report to RP Management or Lead RCTs.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of three (3) years of Radiological Control Technician experience. Up to one year of experience may be met through educational equivalency as approved by the RPM (i.e. ANSI 3.1).
Current DOE RCT Core credentials.
Contractor, if qualified by having a DOE approved training program, may administer DOE RCT Core Fundamentals challenge test. Candidates must make an 80% to pass and provide FRNP evidence if Contractor administers test. Candidates who make greater than 70% on the first attempt, will be allowed one retest within 1 working day. Candidates who make less than 70% on the challenge exam will not be allowed a re-test and the hiring process terminated at the discretion of the RPM. .
Active DOE security clearance or the ability to obtain within 12 months.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Intermediate PC skills including Microsoft software.
Must pass additional Radiological Control Technician Examinations (site specific examination) and applicable Oral Board(s) per FRNP requirements (within two attempts or at discretion of RPM upon review).
Must be able to complete Job Performance Measurements (JPMs) within 60 days of the program start date (as determined by successful completion of site-specific examination).
Candidates must successfully complete biennial DOE RCT requalification per FRNP RP Program, including a combination of Core Fundamentals examinations, Site Specific examinations, Job Performance examinations, and Oral Boards, as applicable. Candidate must successfully complete requalification within three attempts in a one month time frame or at the discretion of RPM review.
Must be able to be medically qualified to perform HAZWOPER and HAZMAT activities. Medical qualifications will include approvals to wear respiratory protection equipment and temperature extremes.
Must be able to perform physically demanding work per the position description.
Strong math/science skills/aptitude.
Ability to perform and document radiological surveys in a detailed, accurate manner.
Demonstrated ability to lead (specific reference/experience required).
Active DOE security clearance or the ability to obtain within 12 months.
