Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Startup Engineering Technical Writer to be based in our Princeton, New Jersey location.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

•Writers must be fluent in the English language and capable of constructing grammatically correct sentences and paragraph development.

•Required writing skills include the ability to understand and translate complex engineering documentation into operator- oriented language.

•The engineering documents include; Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID's), Electrical Single Lines, Control Wiring Diagrams (CWD's) Schematics, Logics, Control System Descriptions (CSD's), technical Specifications and Vendor supplied Operatingand Maintenance Instructions.

•The job entails working as part of a project team using cutting edge technology, good communication skills and desire to learn about new technologies a must.

Minimum Requirements

•Bachelors Degree in Engineering or demonstrated equivalent.

•Minimum 2 years experience developing technical documents.

•All documents are developed electronically and require working knowledge of personal computers.

•Experience with applications contained in Microsoft Office professional Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point)

•Understanding of the basic steam cycle and electrical generation.

•Knowledge in developing training material and system descriptions.

•Some travel to project training sites.

•Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder).

Preferred Qualifications

•Knowledge of electrical fundamentals and the ability to explain fundamentals in system design.

•Background in plant operations and electrical distribution systems.

•Combined cycle, Air Quality Control retrofits, and coal plant operations a plus.

Additional Information:

•Qualified applicatants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

•Relocation and per diem benefits are not available for this position.
