POSITION TITLE: FELLOW NUCLEAR SAFETY ENGINEER
Support the SRNS Nuclear & Criticality Safety Engineering (N&CSE) organization in the development and implementation of nuclear safety documentation for various facilities at the Savannah River Site. Provide technical assistance in developing nuclear safety documents and analyses, technical safety requirements, and related technical support documentation. Ensure that the developed nuclear safety documentation complies with requirements and as necessary, applicable controls are implemented in field procedures. Services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
BS degree in Engineering, Math, or Science and 15 years of experience in the nuclear safety industry supporting the Department of Energy (DOE) or the commercial nuclear industry.
HS diploma and 20 years of experience in the nuclear safety industry supporting the Department of Energy (DOE) or the commercial nuclear industry.
Previous experience with implementation of 10 CFR 830, DOE O 413.3A, DOE O 420.1B and related standards and guides, and the development of nuclear safety basis documents is required. Familiar with Nuclear and Criticality Safety Programs. Proven ability to solve complex problems in the field. Work history demonstrating personal accountability for project schedules, deadlines, budgets, and the safe performance of work. Previous relevant SRS experience is preferred.
A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Workweek excludes SRNS holidays. SRNS Management will determine best schedule depending on work needs. Each workday has a 30-minute lunch.
Area Security Access:
A DOE “L” security clearance is required for this position. Candidate must have an active DOE “L” security clearance to perform assigned duties. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who currently possess an active DOE “L” or “Q” security clearance. In addition, qualified candidates, who previously held a DOE security clearance, terminated less than 24 months and are still within the reinvestigation period, will also be considered acceptable with the reasonable expectation that reinstatement to an active “L” clearance can occur within a month.
