System One has an immediate direct opportunity for an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support our client’s Chemical Agent Destruction Pilot Plant. The I&C Engineer will review and prepare I&C drawings and design calculations and provide design recommendations for the project. These recommendations must adhere to applicable codes, standards, and procedures. In addition, the I&C engineer will ensure adequate input and technical guidance to CAD designers and drafters as well as other engineers and vendors working on the same deliverables to promote technical excellence. Performs complex design assignments that will apply engineering techniques similar to those found in chemical process or utility plants.

The Instrumentation & Control Engineer is required to have the following education / experience:

4-year degree in Engineering (or related field)
In addition, an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate may be required.

5-8 years of Instrumentation and Control Engineering work experience in Utility and/or Chemical Plants

Demonstrated leadership of I&C team.

Proficiency with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/INtools), relational databases (SQL/Oracle queries) and Visual Basic (VBA) is a strong plus.

Experience developing instrumentation summaries, I/O summaries, alarm summaries, wiring schedules, instrumentation data sheets, and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).

Experience with distributed control systems (DCS), including architecture and wiring.

Experience reviewing equipment vendor drawings to ensure they meet project specifications.

Experience utilizing advanced electrical I&C engineering techniques, codes and regulations.

Ability to review vendor drawings to ensure compliance to project requirements.

2 years of experience with INtools is preferred.
