Mechanical/Process Design Engineer

Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education:
BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 15 years design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working at a DOE facility.
Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working in the nuclear
industry or at a nuclear facility.
Ability to perform field walk-downs
One or more of the following experiences must be demonstrated:
Demonstrate experience creating and revising documents for Process Flow analysis, calculations, and reports.
Demonstrate experience creating and revising drawings for Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams and supporting calculations.
Demonstrate experience creating and revising documents for System Descriptions. These are detailed documents which serve as the engineering input to design a system and include the requirements the system must meet.
Demonstrate experience with Mechanical Equipment Lists including equipment selection, equipment description reports, software to manage the equipment lists, creating/revising documentation, and review of equipment vendor drawings.
Demonstrate experience creating and revising documents for Mechanical Equipment Selection including equipment selection criteria, equipment description reports, design of the connections to install the equipment, and review of equipment vendor drawings.○
Demonstrate experience creating and revising documents for Pipe and Valve Specifications including component selection, vendor design documents, design of the connections to install the equipment
Demonstrate experience creating and revising documents for Failure Analysis and/or Accident Analysis.
Demonstrate experience creating and revising documents for Finite Element Analysis including software used, model development, and solutions achieved through modelling.
Demonstrate experience with ASME Code Design and Evaluation including piping/component design, evaluation of existing systems, evaluation of non-conforming systems/components, documenting design solutions with code references, and experience resolving conflicting code interpretations.
Demonstrate experience with Pipe Stress Analysis including piping/component stress analysis, nozzle and equipment loading, supports required, and documentation of results.
Demonstrate experience with Material Handling Design including creating and revising documents for design approval and modification. Specifically note any experience with gloveboxes.
Demonstrate experience with Fire Protection Design including fire suppression and fire detection design documentation and calculations.
Demonstrate experience with HVAC design including equipment selection, flow calculations, design documentation, vendor drawing reviews, and experience with supporting groups (I&C, structural, electrical, etc.) to finalize the design.
