[Training Specialist] Mechanical Maintenance Trainer (ChemDemil) Opening!!

The Chemical Demilitarization Training Facility (CDTF) is a Government Owned, Contractor Operated (GOCO) facility that provides Government Furnished Training for Chemical Materials Activity/Recovered Chemical Materiel Directorate (CMA/RCMD) personnel and other government agencies. GP Strategies is the contractor responsible for all aspects of providing each course in the training program and conducts the courses at the CDTF on the Aberdeen Proving Grounds Edgewood Area (APGEA).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and conduct operation and mechanical maintenance training courses designed to support the assessment and destruction phases of the RCMD mission to safely dispose of Recovered Chemical Warfare Materiel (RCWM).

Other duties which may be assigned include the following.

Confer with management/client to understand work situation. Performs needs, job and task analysis to determine training required for trainees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations and technologies.

Recommend an implementation plans for development of instructional methods and delivery of individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.

Design and develop teaching outlines and specific training to address the client needs by incorporating methods and requirements of instructional systems such as Instructional Systems Development (ISD), Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) or Training Systems Development (TSD) process.

Select or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works.

Deliver training sessions covering specified areas of technical specialty.

Design and develop exams to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of recommended training.

Evaluate training programs and reports on trainee progress.

Maintain training programs and materials.Travel to client sites as needed.

Required Qualifications:

HS Diploma or Equivalent and 8 years relevant experience
OR - Associate’s Degree in relevant Industrial or Technical field and 6 years relevant technical experience
OR - Bachelor’s Degree in relevant business or technical field and 5 years relevant technical experience

General Physical Requirements:

General physical requirements needed to perform the essential functions of this job may include:

Light Work – Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Light work involves sitting most of the time.

Physical Activities – Reaching, Sitting, Driving, Standing, Stooping, Lifting, Walking, Fingering (typing), Grasping, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive Motions

Visual Acuity – Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, view computer monitor, and reading. Requires visual acuity to view surroundings and identify potential hazards to safety while performing essential functions of the job. May need to view presentation screens and other visual aids in a classroom or other client setting. Visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle.

General Working Conditions – Both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
