JOB PURPOSE

To serve as the focal point in assisting the NSTX-U Recovery Project team in preparing for machine reassembly including 1) site preparation, 2) streamlining/rationalizing key work control processes, 3) preparation of Field Work Packages (FWPs) needed for reassembling the NSTX-U machine, and coordinating the efforts of assigned Work Planners in the preparation, review and approval of work packages needed to support execution of this plan.

CORE DUTIES

Perform the following in accordance with PPPL and NSTX-U policies, programs and procedures:

Coordinate outage preparation working groups with scope of Job Purpose, as assigned

Partner with Project Manager, Construction Manager and Outage Manager in conducting outage planning meetings with PPPL stakeholders including follow-up

Serve as focal point for streamlining key work control processes (e.g. procedure changes)

Assist project team in implementing advance work-around and acceleration strategies

Oversee/coordinate Work Planning activities including the development, review and approval of work plans needed to execute the work

Serve as focal point for assuring appropriate stakeholder engagement in FWP review and approval

Provide and assist project team in conducting effective, well-organized plan-of-the-day and shift turn-over meetings

Provide/support timely FWP changes

Monitor progress against the plan through direct observation of the work, and collaborate with Project Manager and Construction Manager on needed adjusts to the plan

Assist project team in closeout of completed work packages
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


Education and Experience
•Associates degree from an accredited college or equivalent based on 2:1 years (experience: college)
•15 years + experience in construction, operations or maintenance at commercial nuclear power plants, research laboratories in the Department of Energy complex or other similar, complex work environment
•5 years + managing outages at commercial nuclear power plants (preferred)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (including unique software/hardware requirements)

•Strong written communications skills including the preparation of technical procedures
•Ability to work under highly disciplined controls and stringent safety environments
•Strong leadership skills with ability to understand written, detailed work instructions
•Ability to communicate with supervisor, co-workers and front-line workers
•Experience working with multi-trade workforce such as electricians, riggers, and heavy machine operators

Physical Requirements*
•No medical restrictions on performing physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds
•No medical restriction working near static magnetic fields
•Capable of climbing ladders and working at heights from scaffolding, platforms and powered aerial lifts
