Remote DOE Civil/Construction Engineering FFRDC Expert

Our client has multiple concurrent high priority projects at
various stages of project planning and execution.
Successful planning and execution of mission-
critical technical and infrastructure projects is essential to the scientific mission. This requires projects and proposals to be well-planned, diligently managed within acceptable performance parameters, and successfully completed by delivering full scope within approved budgets, schedules, and stakeholder expectations.

To assist leadership in monitoring and understanding risks associated with successful project performance, a Project Management Assurance Board (PMAB) has recently been established. The PMAB, an independent body, conducts regular evaluations of high priority institutional projects and the overall projects portfolio.

Our client is interested in complementing the existing membership with well-seasoned civil engineering/construction professional with extensive experience in the DOE Office of Science laboratory complex.

Additionally, periodic civil / construction expertise is needed to assist in other reviews and activities (e.g. Project Director’s Reviews) in evaluation and continual improvement of civil engineering and construction project management processes and practices.

Provide expert civil / construction engineering analysis and advice on multiple projects and
• Prepare for and participate in monthly Project Management Assurance Board meetings at client (2 days each month) Note: Occasional remote participation will be authorized
• Assist in drafting reports and recommendations for keeping these specific projects on track
• Participate on Project Director’s Reviews (estimated 3 reviews each 4 days, a total of 12 days per year)

Selected candidates shall be a recognized expert within the DOE Office of Science FFRDC
laboratory complex for civil engineering / construction expertise required to support laboratory
projects. They shall have a minimum of 10 years experience in DOE FFRDC environment.

Project management, DOE Order 413, communication, participation on review boards;
Must be able to commit to travel to client

• Travel to/from client to perform work at PPPL for about 2 days/month; access and review
documents remotely. Additional Project Director’s Reviews (estimated 3 reviews each 4 days, a total of 12 days per year)
