[Safety Specialist] Job #784 - Safety Design SME

GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking a Safety Design SME to perform intermittent work at the Nevada National Security Site in North Las Vegas, NV, which provides integral mission support to the NNSA. Key skills for this role include extensive experience applying requirements of DOE-STD-1195, Design of Safety Significant Safety Instrumented Systems, used at DOE Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities.

This position will serve the Nevada National Security Site in North Las Vegas, NV.

Position Overview:
Provides SME technical support and guidance to the U1a Facility Engineering organization on implementation of DOE-STD-1195 (Design of Safety Significant Safety Instrumented Systems Used at DOE Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities) requirements.
Assists with stages of design, procurement, installation, testing, and quality assurance of the new safety-significant U1h Hoist PLC.
May provide technical services to senior managers and professional staff in accordance with or directly related to program and project.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 20+ years’ experience, of which 12 years must be specialized experience within the below functional areas:
Safety Instrumented Systems
Safety Significant Functions
Hazard Controls
Extensive experience applying requirements of DOE-STD-1195, Design of Safety Significant Safety Instrumented Systems Used at DOE Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities.
Knowledge of federal regulations, DOE site work management systems, DOE orders, and other guidance that impacts nuclear facilities and activities.
Experience in facility management, requirements-based assessments, execution planning, and Conduct of Operations strongly preferred.
Due to the nature of the work, an U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance is required.
