WASTE MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

MSA Operation Support Services (OSS) requires waste characterization and program support for radiological, mixed waste, and non-mixed hazardous waste streams generated by MSA. Assist with the development and implementation of an MSA Waste Management program, provide waste designation and characterization of MSA generated wastes per all applicable Federal, state, local, and procedural requirements.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK – SPECIFIC
Interface (as needed) with Radiological Control; Environmental, Traffic, and MSA waste generating line organizations to provide support for waste activities.
Designate and/or characterize waste. Includes, but is not limited to:
Interpretation of laboratory analysis
Performing chemical designations and radioactive waste determinations
Documenting and tracking waste designations in the Solid Waste Information Tracking System (SWITS)
Providing support for proper waste generation, segregation, and packaging. o Performing waste compatibility reviews.
Prepare waste profiles.
Assist in the creation of Waste Management procedures to include, but not limited to:
Waste characterization o Waste tracking
Pin file management
The primary work location will be in 200 East, MO276. Work will be performed at various locations across the Hanford Site. Hanford personnel at the Hanford Site work a standard 4/10 schedule. The standard workweek consist of ten (10) hours of work between 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with one-half hour designated as an unpaid period for lunch, Monday through Thursday.
Personnel shall have a Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a related field and a minimum 8 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Personnel shall be proficient the implementation and interpretation of:

Personnel must be current with the following training requirements (training with dates required):
RadWorker II Training
WA State Waste Designation Training
RCRA Container Waste Management Training
RCRA Hazardous Waste Identification Training
RCRA Requirements for Satellite Accumulation Training
Hazardous Materials General Awareness Training
24-Hour Hazardous Waste Site Worker (HAZWOPER)
Additional training and qualifications desired:
Advanced Shipper Training
General Packaging Requirements for the Transportation of HAZMAT
ERDF profile and waste acceptance experience
Chemical compatibility reviews
McCoy RCRA Training
Management and/or leadership experience
Solid Waste Information and Tracking System (SWITS)
24-Hour Hazardous Waste Site Worker & documented 1-day supervised field
Ability to Obtain and Maintain Security Clearance
