The Construction Engineer 2 (Electrical) will support Capital Projects – Construction Management Division to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of work for various projects. The Construction Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the technical aspects of construction projects are in full conformance with approved construction documents and contractual requirements. The Construction Engineers will perform routine construction engineering assignments that requires a full working knowledge of construction engineering practices and the exercise of professional judgment within the framework of established guidelines. The Construction Engineer will be assigned to a discipline position within the Construction Management Division in an administrative or technical capacity. The Construction Engineer will be responsible to complete assigned tasks under routine supervision and technical directions and reports to the Construction Engineering Lead.
Other duties will include:
Perform as a construction engineer in a broad range of construction engineering work involving both self-performed work and oversight of subcontractor performed work.
Provide construction engineering assistance to Superintendents and Subcontract Technical Representatives (STR), verifies materials, equipment, workmanship, and assures construction activities meet design requirements.
Perform constructability reviews, design reviews, and submittal reviews.
Interpret design drawings and specifications.
Prepare checklists and other documents, and attend pre-job briefings as required to ensure quality requirements are captured and recognized by the installers.
Provide field verification of materials and ensure they are stored properly in accordance with design specifications, drawings, and manufacturer’s instructions.
Prepare material takeoffs for purchase requisitions, including estimating the quantities and ensuring compliance with design specifications and drawings.
Interface daily with Integrated Project Team members.
Identify construction issues and work with Construction Engineering Leads to resolve.
Report to the Construction Engineering Lead.
Knowledge in the construction of any of the following electrical disciplines: Electrical Utility Distribution, Fire Alarm, Low Voltage Electrical systems, Telecommunication systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), and/or Lightning Protection Systems.
Degree in an engineering or scientific discipline; or 5 years actual work experience in the respective discipline
