SHINE is immediately seeking a Nuclear Engineer reporting directly to the Nuclear Systems Manager with a strong background and a driven personality to design and analyze nuclear systems for Mo-99 production.
This position will vary in responsibility but generally is tasked with ensuring the safe, efficient and effective operations of the nuclear systems required for the production and processing of medical isotopes and fissile solutions.
Ideal Nuclear Engineer applicants should have an excellent understanding of reactor physics principles. Experience is highly desirable in the following areas: reactor dynamics/transient analysis; in-depth thermal-hydraulics analysis (e.g., natural convection and two-phase flow), shielding design and analysis, neutronics modeling with MCNP, source term generation with ORIGEN, and new reactor/nuclear system design. Experience working with MCNP is required, and experience with Python and ORIGEN is preferred.
We are seeking candidates with at least a Bachelors’ degree in Nuclear Engineering. An NRC-regulated background is a plus.
Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and criminal background check.
