ReNuke Services is seeking a Field Radiological Protection Manager at our client site in Oak Ridge, TN.

• Assist the Project Team with health physics aspects of planning and executing radiological work scopes.
• Review planned work at the project, activity, and task level to ensure that all significant radiological aspects, including regulatory requirements, have been identified and controls implemented as required.
• Provide technical direction to project-deployed Field Radiological Engineers and Radiological Protection Supervisors, technical support to project planners, and coordinate the deployment of radiological protection staff and equipment resources as necessary to meet project needs.
• Conduct periodic oversight (e.g., walk-downs, management assessments) of work activities to ensure that work is performed in accordance with established requirements.
• Oversee the project implementation of radiological work permits (RWPs) and ensure compliance with all permit limiting conditions and requirements, including monitoring and sampling.
• Interface with TDEC regulators, DOE, and other DOE prime contractors as required and communicate with project and functional management any commitments or issues requiring resolution.
• Establish, maintain, and track project-level ALARA objectives and targets that are consistent with and support UCOR company- level ALARA goals.
• Serve as project advocate for integration of radiological protection controls with other craft and discipline requirements in collaborative work planning.
• Direct the collection of and evaluate the adequacy of field characterization data to ensure that RWPs reflect appropriate controls or safe conduct of radiological scope.
• Stay abreast of approved list of applicable laws, regulations, consensus standards and contract requirements as they pertain to project radiological work scope.
• Participate in incident investigation, causal analysis, and corrective action planning for identified radiological issues.
• Prepare input to roll-up reports for project activities such as site-level and ORR-wide dose accumulation and performance against LARA goals.
• Promptly report all radiological incidents (e.g., spills, personnel contaminations, and spread of contamination incidents to project and functional management.
• Serve on Emergency Operations Center Cadre as assigned
• Participate in subcontract formation team for work activities having significant radiological aspects.
• Participate in project hazard review board (HRB) evaluation of work activities having significant radiological aspects.
• Comply with other responsibilities outlined in UCOR policies, procedures, and program descriptions.
• Supervise other Radiological Protection personnel and/or staff augmentation subcontractors as assigned.
• Functionally report to the UCOR Radiological Protection Manager. On project, report to assigned ES&H Operations Manager for day-to-day direction.
• Function as the single point of accountability for assigned organization’s or project’s radiological/ALARA performance.
• Communicate regularly to project and functional management on assigned responsibilities and any performance or compliance issues.
• Approve radiological work control documents, RWPs, Level I ALARA Reviews, dose estimates, calculations and reports for assigned projects prior to submittal to project/functional management
• Approve project work control documents as assigned for radiological work activities.
• Advise and consult with Field Radiological Engineers where they have been delegated radiological work package approval authority.
• Delegate authority and responsibility to subordinate staff and others as appropriate.
• In conjunction with other assigned project personnel, approve waste determinations as either radiological waste or suitable for release.
• Exercise decision authority on behalf of the Company with respect to release of materials from radiological areas.
• Approve documented basis for determinations that such materials are suitable for unrestricted release.

• Bachelor’s degree in ES&H discipline or related science/engineering area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This is a management level position requiring a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years of experience directly involving leadership such as supervisor, manager, or lead role. ABHP certification is desirable. NRRPT registration and/or prior RPT experience is advantageous.
• Demonstrated proficiency in supervision and oversight of the ESH function area in a project work environment
• Technical and field knowledge in assigned areas of responsibility, as well as a general knowledge in IH, occupational safety, radiological protection, environment compliance and protection.
• Working knowledge and practical application of governmental ESH standards, procedures, rules, and regulations within area of responsibility
• Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and reporting requirements.
• Knowledge and understanding of ISMS, EMS, as defined in PPD-EH-1400
• Experience in conducting audits and assessments of projects and facilities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
