Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Specialty Mechanical Engineer opportunity for our customer in Oak Ridge, TN for the Y-12 National Security Complex.
Specialty Mechanical Engineers will be required to write procurement specifications and datasheets for mechanical equipment (hoists, conveyors, furnaces, etc.) as well as provide oversight for fabrication drawings.
Provide oversight for fabrication drawings.
Collect design requirements by walk-downs, interviews with SMEs, etc.
Create procurement documents (specifications, datasheets, etc.) for specialty mechanical equipment and support the subsequent procurements.
Utilize Creo for the 3-D and 2-D design and development of various mechanical components, portions of systems, and modifications of existing designs.
Create design documents (calculations, drawings, etc.) for specialty mechanical equipment and support the subsequent fabrication.
Work with integrated design and procurement teams to assist in the review and acceptance of mechanical equipment.
Troubleshoot existing specialty mechanical equipment and support maintenance/repair activities.
Participate in design reviews to ensure interfaces with specialty mechanical equipment are accurately identified.
Report earned value progress to supervisor as required.
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field
5+ years relevant experience with design/specification of custom mechanical equipment.
Creo CAD Software experience, among others, is required.
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
