Position Title: Senior Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer (LEU + Project)
This is a contract temporary position; phase I of this project is expected to last through the end of December, 2021. The selected candidate will be able to work remotely from home.
Independently perform analysis and design activities in support of the facility, engineering programs and projects. Utilizing basic and advanced engineering fundamentals, as assigned, perform owner acceptance reviews of design packages developed by design agencies. Perform other engineering activities required to support facility design, configuration control, and operation.
Develop and maintain knowledge of facilitys design and licensing basis in the assigned area of responsibility. Acquire and maintain required training and qualifications necessary to perform assigned job responsibilities. Implementation of the physical inventory program, including program planning, coordination of inventory activities and the compilation of all data collected.
Develop resolution of technical problems in accordance with established procedures and available vendor documents (including but not limited to: Non-conformance Evaluations, Operability Determinations, and Quality Level determinations)
Perform analysis, calculations; and develop designs in support of the assigned facility and engineering programs and projects.
Perform technical and quality reviews of a wide array of engineering and technical products. Advanced experience levels also perform reviews of non-typical documents and situations. Including 10 CFR 70.72(c) reviews (and maintaining such qualifications).
Respond to departmental engineering inquiries, including interpreting engineering specifications and generating strategies for project/system.
Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced Engineering personnel in the performance of duties. Including recommendations as to what engineering methods should be used.
Provide leadership and coordination of engineering projects; and assist in the establishment of knowledge, experience and programs required for effective implementation of such projects.
Collaborate with department management to resolve issues relating to high visibility engineering activities.
Communicates and works effectively with other organizations to resolve technical issues and to implement engineering outputs.

Apply sound engineering judgment and professional rigor in the performance of all analyses and assigned tasks.
Understanding of basic engineering principles and problem solving techniques is required.
Maintain regulatory and schedule compliance for assigned tasks.
Respond to departmental engineering inquiries, including interpreting engineering specifications and generating strategies for project/system implementation.
Evaluate engineering project documentation and implementation for consistency and reusability.
Apply industrial safety and radiological safety practices in the performance of all field activities and engineering functions.
Provide presentations and information to senior management on a regular basis to communicate status and performance.

Resolve and/or escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in a timely fashion.
Ability to take direction and function as a team member to solve a variety of engineering problems in the applicable discipline.
All candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, strong planning, analytical and scheduling skills, a demonstrated ability to think strategically, as well as to navigate both the formal and informal networks at URENCO to accomplish assigned tasks, and the ability to effectively work and cooperate with a team and as part of a team to accomplish tasks.
Criticality Safety and/or integrated safety analysis experience.
Bachelors Degree in Engineering.
5 years of related work experience.
A Masters Degree or PhD from an accredited college or university in Engineering.
Professional Engineering (PE) License obtained by accredited examination.
Eight or more years of related work experience: of which 2 years experience is in a nuclear facility.
Monte Carlo Computer code experience (MCNP or MONK preferred).
Experience in a 10 CFR part 70 facility.
Integrated safety analysis experience is a plus.
