TFE, Inc. is currently seeking candidates for the following position:

Structural Engineer

THIS POSITION WILL CLOSE Monday, September 14, 2020.

Location: UCOR – Oak Ridge, TN

Pay Range: $40-$86/hr

Per Diem: No

Duration: Full-time

Clearance: Q Clearance (or the ability to obtain one)

The following explains the job responsibilities and expectations for all employees who are classified in this job description. TFE is seeking a Structural Engineer to provide support for one of our clients. The Structural Engineer will support the Chief Engineer, Project Engineer, UCOR Projects and the Engineering Program as necessary and assigned. Project support locations may include ETTP, ORNL and Y-12.


1. Technical knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers
2. Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with engineering assignments
3. Functional with MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook software
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills


1. BS in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent
2. 7+ years of relevant experience required
3. Performs engineering calculations, prepares specifications, performs analyses, performs testing, issues reports and maintains related data
4. Previous experience at DOE facilities
5. Experience with STAAD is desired.
6. Professional Engineer License preferred
7. Experienced in structural inspection
8. Maintains liaison with design and drafting groups
9. Prepares, reviews and approves drawings as required
10. Advises the Project Engineer and Engineering Manager about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems
11. Ensures quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks
12. Plans and schedules engineering efforts associated with assigned project
13. Maintains timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities
14.Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training
15. Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies
16. Ability to anticipate change and adjust promptly and effectively
17. Proven ability to manage multiple work scopes between self-performed work and subcontracted work
18. Possess or have ability to obtain a "Q" clearance
