System One is seeking a highly motivated Safety Analysis Framework Software Engineer to support the operations of the Sodium Fast Reactor testing team for a long-term contract in Bellevue, WA.
Under the customer's matrix organizational structure, the Safety Analysis Framework Software Engineer contractor receives administrative and technical supervision from the Nuclear Safety and Licensing Discipline Manager and direction from project managers.
Design, implement, and maintain software tools to maximize near- and long-term productivity of safety analyst, safety method developers as well as verification and validation efforts, including commercial grade dedication.
Systematically identify performance or productivity bottlenecks; design and implement solutions to eliminate them.
Train and support nuclear safety and licensing engineers in the use of the software suite.
Work closely with IT and other engineers to build and support software build and testing systems.
Lead by example with demonstration of good software development practices and provide training to nuclear safety and licensing engineers who are still learning the craft of writing software.
Review proposed code changes to framework, safety analysis plug-ins, and other software and provide detailed feedback.
Produce formal documentation of software requirements, design, implementation, and testing.
Work with nuclear safety and licensing engineers to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements for software.
Key Qualifications and Skills
B.S. degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience; or advanced degree with equivalent experience in working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams to address engineering challenges.
Very strong programming skills in any language, but knowledge for Python, Fortran, and C++ skills
Good understanding of software quality assurance and the software development life cycle.
Experience with software developer tools such as Git.
Ability and professionalism to work within published regulatory guidelines.
Knowledge of safety analysis code
Demonstrated strong quantitative, analytical, modeling and reporting skills.
Understanding of NQA-1 requirements associated with analysis and software management as well as experience working under a quality assurance programs.
Programming skills in any language is a plus.
