GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking Civil / Structural Engineer to support a federal site near Piketon, OH.
Perform analysis, hand calculations, modeling and simulation of civil/ structural and mechanical systems and components.
Provide support to design teams in development of design requirements, alternative analysis, equipment selection and sizing, vendor equipment summaries and evaluations, and drawings.
Support demolition and decommissioning (D&D) work, if needed.
Perform linear and nonlinear, static and dynamic, analysis of such factors as stress, force, vibration, and material plasticity. Compare results to the provisions of governing codes, standards, and orders.
Prepare and check engineering design documents, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and specialized analyses for nuclear and high hazard facilities.
Perform seismic (and other natural phenomenon) analysis of structures and components of varying complexity.
Develop specifications, drawings, supporting analysis and calculations and engineering design files.
Perform technical checking of Engineering Design Files and drawings for a variety of projects.
Provide support to Safety Analysis through analysis of accidents and their potential consequences.
Contribute to and develop cost estimates.
Perform structural calculations with the assist of computer aided software such as STAAD.
Other tasks may include development of detailed project scope, design timelines, functions and requirements, design basis and criteria, design schedule and tracking, design review, inter-discipline design coordination, design approval, and design change control.
Bachelorís Degree in an engineering field from an ABET accredited program and 7+ years of civil/structural engineering experience.
PE license, preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to apply engineering principles, theories, and concepts and relevant technical knowledge necessary to complete work.
Knowledge of and ability to apply local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines as required.
Communicate effectively with a design team, management, coworkers, and clients.
Have experience and be conversant in RISA, Mulitframe, STAAD.Pro, and other finite element analysis software.
Proficient in MS Word and MathCad.
Technical knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers is desired.
Experience supporting federal sites highly preferred.
Ability to obtain and maintain a government-issued security clearance, if necessary.
Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
