GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) Engineer to support a federal site near Piketon, OH.
Performs tracking and trending of NCS performance.
Responsible for technical ownership of assigned NCS projects.
Performs maintenance and supports NCS operability or engineering evaluations when necessary.
Acts as a subject matter expert for assigned NCS projects.
Prepares NCS Evaluations (NCSEs) and NCS Determinations (NCSDs) when qualified.
Performs peer review of NCSEs, NCSDs, and NCS Calculation documents.
Prepares disposition of problem reports.
Identifies and evaluates project issues and problems.
Performs project engineering functions involving monitoring of progress and preparation of procedures.
Prepares forecasts, quality take-offs and change orders.
Conducts feasibility studies and evaluates potential technologies.
Performs research to analyze and validate design or theory concepts.
Assists in training preparation and facilitation.
Evaluates operations and proposed modifications to determine compliance with engineering disciplines and standards, federal, state or local statutes and regulations as well as company policy.
Ensures compliance with DOE regulations and standards.
Interfaces with other technical and production organizations to compile technical information required for document preparation.
Provides assigned technical or functional support to team members.
Performs a variety of tasks complex in nature.
Actively participates in Safety Work Groups.
Bachelorís Degree in an engineering field from an ABET accredited program and 10+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years specific to NCS engineering.
Expert understanding of pertinent codes, governing regulations, and industry practices.
Ability to communicate effectively with a design team, management, coworkers, and clients.
Experience working at a nuclear facility.
Knowledge of and ability to apply local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines as required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a government-issued security clearance, if necessary.
Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
