USAR9182 PROJECT ENGINEER OAK RIDGE, TN DUE BY APRIL 20, 2021
ReNuke Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer at our client site in Oak Ridge, TN. This project engineer is needed for the EMDF/OSWDF project support.
Directs and coordinates engineering activities for the project or assigned portion including supervision of engineers of all disciplines.
Establishes or assists in establishing the detailed project execution plan and the development of the overall project engineering budget and schedule.
Develops design and procurement schedules for approval.
Coordinates engineering effort with Project Manager, Procurement, Construction, Startup, Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) and Project Controls when assigned.
Reviews and approves design documents, change orders, material requisitions and specifications for construction or procurement use.
Supervises the preparation of, reviews and endorses bid analyses and recommendations for procurement of equipment material and services within Engineerings scope of responsibility.
Visits jobsite as required for exchange of information.
Coordinates activities among the design groups on multiple concurrent projects.
Initiates requests for specialized professional services.
Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to client, project and functional management as directed and as appropriate.
Professional Engineer License strongly preferred.
Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline required.
15+ years of relevant experience required.
Advanced degree in engineering and/or business strongly preferred.
Experience at DOE Environmental Management and/or NNSA facilities.
Experience managing capital projects with outside A&E firm(s) providing design services.
Experience in design and construction of radiological waste disposal and/or treatment facilities.
Possess or have ability to obtain a "Q" clearance but is not required to apply.
Functional with MS Word, Excel and Outlook software.
Assists with the establishment and implementation of project manpower needs and
coordinates technical activities among disciplines.
Identifies and ensures compliance with regulatory, licensing and state requirements.
Conducts the design of a technically sound, safe and operable plant with a high degree of reliability.
Creates the optimum balance between design plant costs and costs of service.
Prepares and issues Engineering Execution Plans (EXP), and ensures that all necessary
and appropriate client requirements, procedures and standards are incorporated.
Compiles lists from each discipline to develop master document list for project.
Develops plan to support procurement of all engineered items to be purchased for project.
in conjunction with the Project Materials Manager.
Works with Materials Management and Construction to develop subcontract and work.
package descriptions that are consistent with the contracting plan for the project.
Coordinates development of work-hour estimates and transfers information to Project Controls
for preparation of engineering cost estimate.
Cooperates with other departments in the company participating on the project.
Schedules and coordinates meetings between Project Engineering, the client and other
Keeps Project Manager, Manager of Engineering, Chief Discipline Engineers, Principal
Engineers and/or Supervising Discipline Engineers advised of project progress, performance and
manpower utilization with particular attention to delays, adverse trends, errors and omissions.
Assures proper documentation of meetings, agreements, conversations, etc. that affect the conduct of the project.
Coordinates the clients engineering comments, approvals and requests with the functional
activities of all disciplines.
Requests the employment of expert consultants when deemed necessary for the project.
Encourages and assists in the technical and managerial development of subordinates.
Coordinates Independent Engineering Design Reviews by discipline engineering management of selected architecture, engineering and design documents.
Reviews engineering performance on the project to ensure quality, conformance with
conceptual design and completeness of engineering tasks.
Promptly reviews Design Change Notices (DCN), identifies change order candidates, segregates.
cost collection and assists the Project Manager in pertinent aspects of change order management.
Complies with companys safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.
Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.

Proficient knowledge on planning, application and coordination of CAD design processes
Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the discipline.
