GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at a federal site in Los Alamos, NM, that provides integral mission support to the Department of Energy. While working to achieve objectives, the ideal candidate will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task.
Use standard project management principles to manage a construction project from project initiation, planning, engineering, and procurement through construction execution, start-up and close-out.
Lead the effort to establish schedules, forecasts, budgets, parameters, etc., and monitor progress to assure schedules are met and work is performed within budget.
Ensure overall responsibility for all project activities including; project safety, project quality, project execution to cost and schedule baselines.
Establish and maintain liaison with the customer throughout the entire project to resolve problems and coordinate service functions.
Maintain required safety and security training and assure safety and security compliance.
Make safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
Direct the sequence of work for multi-discipline, bargaining unit, craft workers, operating within assigned areas.
Ensure facility modifications continuously adhere to engineering designs, engineering document control, specifications, quality standards, schedules, and budgets.
Work closely with System Engineers, Construction Managers, Superintendent Leads, and Project Managers.
Ensure activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner.
Perform additional duties and deliverables as determined by the Engineering or Waste Operations Manager.
Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years of relevant construction experience.
Must have an understanding of work hazards, safety practices, and operating configurations.
Experience working in a team environment with a strong safety culture.
Work experience in a quality-oriented environment requiring a high degree of attention to detail.
Knowledge in the use of personal computers including database applications.
Ability to qualify in the use of personnel protective equipment including air purifying respirators.
Must be willing to work a variety of shifts (i.e. 8-hour days, 9-hour days, or 10-hour days (not to exceed 80 hours in a 2 week time period) and support “on-call” duty with the ability to respond within 2 hours.
Must have the ability to pass and maintain all qualifications as required by the Department of Energy (DOE) Order 426.2 and N3B.
Effective interpersonal skills (e.g., ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively, work/interact effectively and amicably with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures).
Excellent communication skills to effectively convey thoughts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
