[Safety Specialist] Construction Safety Professional

GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking a Construction Safety Professional to join our corporate team. Headquartered in Knoxville, TN and founded in 1994, GEM excels in providing quality engineering and technical services, facility and infrastructure management, construction, and environmental services to federal government agencies, state and municipal governments, universities, and an assortment of private industry enterprises.
This position is full-time and will be based out of our Corporate Office in Knoxville, TN.

Position Overview:

Support contracts with federal clients including DOE/NNSA and its M&O contractors, as well as other federal, state, and municipal agencies.
Monitor and prevent hazards that could be found in the work area.
Provides field safety oversight to various craft labor as they perform work on GEM Subcontracts.
Investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.
Recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazard.
Analyze and identify data collected from facilities for risk, safety, environmental, or reliability concerns and recommends corrective action when required.
Will lead, conduct, and evaluate detailed reviews of complex operations to identify hazards and develop appropriate controls.
Perform review of existing operational and safety program requirements for compliance with federal directives and client policies and procedures and make revisions as needed while conducting work under quality assurance requirements.

7+ years of overall experience, with 5+ years of field oversight experience.
Bachelorís degree in Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or related field of study desired but will consider relevant experience in lieu of a degree can be considered.
Fundamental understanding of Industrial Hygiene Monitoring and Air Sampling Instrumentation.
Understanding & application of DOE Worker Safety & Health Program (10 CFR 851).
Completion of/or ability to obtain OSHA 10 and OSHA 30-Hr Training.
Completion of/or ability to obtain USACE Construction Management for Contractors Course training.
40 HR HAZWOPER preferred.
Asbestos Project Monitor certification preferred.
Due to the nature of the work, active DOE security clearance preferred.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Any of the following certifications are preferred: STS,CHST, CIH, OHST, CUSP, ASP,CSP
