Support CPCCo nuclear safety oversight activities associated with developing, implementing, interpreting, and enforcing CPCCo facility DSA and TSR. Nuclear safety personnel shall support the following activities:
Documents and Requirements – Prepare, review, and verify implementation of Nuclear Safety Basis, DSA and TSR documents and requirements.
Resolution of Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) Determinations (USQD) issues.
Provide factual accuracy review of Safety Evaluation Reports (SERs).
Nuclear Safety-related assessments and/or walk-throughs.
Nuclear safety-related DOE orders and regulations compliance support, including CPCCo implementation of USQ guidance.
Support CPCCo in performance of routine and ad-hoc reviews, assessments, and oversight walk-downs of: nuclear safety program adequacy, implementation, and compliance verification/oversight activities.
The work products and services to be provided, including any specific CPCCo standards and requirements, required for the successful completion of this work activity includes Safety Basis Documents (e.g., DSAs/TSRs, IHC/FHC, calculations as required to support safety basis documents, and USQ screens and determinations).
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Senior level expert with extensive knowledge and experience in a functional or domain area. Provides high-level functional analysis, technical management and direction for problem definition, analysis, and requirements development and implementation on the subject matter. Recommends and advises on subject-matter improvements, optimization, and maintenance. Provides expertise in a diverse range of specialties including but not limited to: Nuclear Safety and/or Criticality Safety, training development, personnel, and program management as well as other disciplines required for creation of comprehensive or complex solutions. May perform as high-level subject matter expert on project-related matters as related to assessing regulatory compliance and potential impact on established procedures, organizational culture, or regulatory authority. Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Frequently recognized by government and or industry as an expert in his or her specific field.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Art degree in engineering, mathematics, physics or a related technical field
Minimum of 15 years in the industry, of which at least eight (8) must directly relate to the required area of expertise; or a combination of experience and education, as a nuclear safety engineer under 10 CFR 830.
