ACTIVE Q CLEARANCE REQUIRED
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an Accreditiation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited university (or equivelent education and engineering experience) plus a minimum of 10 years experience in piping engineering design with plant design experience.
The piping design engineer will be responsible for providing engineering design for process piping and utility piping systems in support of nuclear and non-nuclear projects at Y-12. The piping design engineer will be responsible for preparation of conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost-estimating bills of material and man-hour estimates, statements of work, design criteria, and title II engineering deliverables including preparation of calculations (equipment, valve and pipe sizing) and analyses, construction specifications & drawings, and equipment specifications. Piping design engineer will design systems such as potable water and fire-protection supply systems, gases, acid and caustic fluids, brines, cryogenics, steam and condensate, hot and chilled water systems, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and vacuum systems. The piping design engineer will perform walkdowns in the existing plant facilities in order to generate design documents.
This is a full time (40 hour/week) position. The work schedule is four 10 hours a day - Monday through Thursday.
