Provide design engineering support to the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) project as a Design Engineering Integrator.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include oversite of Architect Engineering (AE) firms preparing new and modification to existing Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment and associated systems for the SRPPF project. Secondary responsibility includes preparation of engineering analysis, HVAC design development and generation of HVAC design output documents including but not limited to: calculations for equipment sizing, duct sizing, pressure drops, cooling tower sizing, heating and cooling loads, and air balancing for design work performed in-house. Coordinate review of design documents and records among various organizations such as Operations, Engineering, Construction, etc. Provide support to construction, support procurement of HVAC equipment, provide start up trouble shooting. Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as ASRAE, ARI, NFPA, SMACNA National Codes and Standards.
Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
Qualifications and Experience
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Candidate must demonstrate design experience in the field of Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with specific HVAC experience.
Candidate must demonstrate experience creating and revising HVAC design documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; Sizing Calculations, and Vendor Document Reviews.
Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs to document as-installed conditions and to inspect equipment condition.
Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures is preferred.
Working design experience in a nuclear industry/facility is preferred.
Experience in 2D Microstation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) is preferred.
BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. Afterward, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments. Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (“L” or “Q”) within the past two years are preferred.
