We are looking for a MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - HVAC with the following qualifications:
Provide design engineering support to the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) project as a Design Engineering Integrator. Primary responsibilities include oversite of Architect Engineering (AE) firms preparing new and modification to existing Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment and associated systems for the SRPPF project. Secondary responsibility includes preparation of engineering analysis, HVAC design development and generation of HVAC design output documents including but not limited to: calculations for equipment sizing, duct sizing, pressure drops, cooling tower sizing, heating and cooling loads, and air balancing for design work performed in-house. Coordinate review of design documents and records among various organizations such as Operations, Engineering, Construction, etc. Provide support to construction, support procurement of HVAC equipment, and provide start up trouble shooting. Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as ASRAE, ARI, NFPA, SMACNA National Codes and Standards.
Engineering Services will be provided using SRS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRS.
An active DOE clearance is not initially required. Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.
BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Experience with 2D Microstation CADD (Preferred)
Previous SRS Design Engineering Experience (Preferred)
Minimum of 10 years experience in mechanical engineering design with a background in HVAC design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities
Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as ASRAE, ARI, NFPA, SMACNA National Codes and Standards
Ability to perform field walk-downs to document as-installed conditions
12 MONTHS (2000 HOURS ST/500 HOURS OT)
