NSSS Vessels & Structures Engineer 4

NOTE: This is a 40 hour/week contract assignment with a projected to start in January 2022 and last approximately 7 months. Work can be performed in Corvallis, or remotely from a home office with travel to Corvallis as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) design engineering organization generates technical requirements and associated design parameters for the modular advanced light water reactor (ALWR) NSSS. Utilizing proven state-of-the-art methodologies NSSS components are engineered to nuclear industry standards. The person in this position performs design and stress analyses of structures in accordance with ASME BPVC Section III Subsection NF, and applicable regulatory requirements. All work within the NSSS design organization is completed under ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and respective U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines.

Performs and documents evaluations of components to the rules and requirements of Section III Subsection NF of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. Utilizes the results from these evaluations to optimize component(s) design.
Prepare and/or review engineering specifications, CAD models, and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of components, systems, and structures associated with the NSSS.
Interprets scope and project requirements.
Acquires, maintains and develops training qualifications.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Certification: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Civil Engineering, from a four year ABET accredited college or university. Having a professional engineer (P.E. certification) is preferred.
Experience: 10+ years of full-time relevant working experience is required. Candidates must be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience with the following:
Engineering design and analysis of Subsection NF components of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for both Plate and Shell Type Supports and Linear-Type Supports
Constructing and reviewing CAD
Constructing models and performing evaluations with the ANSYS simulation software
Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Safety Culture: Adheres to the NuScale Safety culture and is expected to model safe behavior and influence peers to meet high standards.
Quality Assurance: Demonstrates understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1.
