[Computer Engineer] Enterprise Architect - WIPP 5264

Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Network Engineer opportunity for our customer in Carlsbad, NM for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).

Position Title: Sr. Network Engineer

Work Location: Carlsbad, NM

Edgewater currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer to provide support to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant contract located in Carlsbad, NM. This position will manage projects and tasks within their scope of responsibility, under the general direction of the Site Program Manager. This position will also work closely with the Systems Operations & Cyber Security Teams, Site engineering Department, as well as many other internal partners as needed or required.

Responsibilities include:

Responsible for building, managing, and maintaining a high available, robust network
Technical subject matter expert (SME) on the logical/physical design, configuration, maintenance, and security of complex enterprise inter/intra networks
Develop and implement quality assurance testing and performance monitoring utilizing QA tools, techniques and practices
Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation and configuration standards
Configure, monitor and maintain all routing, switching, network management and security systems (IDS/IPS, etc.), Firewalls, including WAN connectivity to remote sites
Working with the network team, assist in the configuration of network infrastructure and wireless access points, and ensure all configurations conform to established standards
Maintain network components at latest stable release of software
Assist technical support staff and system engineers with network troubleshooting and debugging
Collaborate with the Information Security Officers on the design and implementation of security guidelines and regulatory compliance requirements
Manage tasks and projects within the scope of assigned responsibilities
Stay current with emerging technologies and seek opportunities to innovate technical solutions within areas of responsibility
Advise the Site Program Manager on budgetary needs, technical concerns, service breaks, and other issues relating the Site Program Managers overall leadership and planning responsibilities
Monitor network performance and identify performance improvement opportunity
Other duties as assigned, when rationally related to the overall duties and expectations of the position
Qualifications

Requirements:

Strong communication and collaboration skills verbal and written
Intermediary problem analysis and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and accuracy within documentation
Able to interact with Customer via phone, email, and VTC
Adaptability to call out and weekend work as required
Able to work independently within a Team Concept
CCNA associate level certification required
Five or more years of progressive experience configuring routing, switching, wireless networking, IDS/IPS devices, 802.1x authentication services, etc.
Two years of experience may be substituted with CCNP or equivalent
Experience developing and maintaining complex technical documentation
Possess comprehensive knowledge of operating systems and applications as they pertain to the network environment
Demonstrated experience with IPv6 deployments and design capabilities
Experience with WAN circuit technologies (T1, DS3, OC-3, OC-12, OC-192)
Network hardening techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience with Cisco Systems network hardware and software
Demonstrated experience with Cisco HSRP and OSPF routing
Experience with Cisco Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (ROADM)
Experience with Hewlett Packard Enterprise Aruba architecture
Certifications and Experience with Palo Alto firewall administration
Education or training specific to Cisco Systems and HPE Aruba
CCNP preferred
Knowledge of BGP and OSPF routing protocols
Significant experience implementing network security
Demonstrated appreciation of configuration management and revision control concepts
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Management of Information System
Knowledge and understanding of Cisco VTC hardware and software, specifically Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and VMware ESX
Demonstrated project management experience
