Engineering Manager

Job Summary: Manages engineering team personnel including design engineers and mechanical and electrical designers. Responsible for engineering design output and ensuring engineering activities follow the established TWPC Programs and Procedures. Capable of executing work as an active Design Engineer. Prepares and reviews reports, specifications and bills of material. Reports to the Facility Support Manager. Directs all engineering efforts at TWPC and communicates expectations to the engineering team. Establishes and achieves schedule driven deadlines for multiple, and competing, tasks.
Essential Functions:

Works with Design Engineers to develop initial design concepts
Makes assignments to engineering team members
Reviews and approves engineering output
Takes the lead in developing design requirements and recommends possible solutions or alternate constructions
Responds to plant upset conditions, NCRs, root cause analysis, and issues resolution
Demonstrated compliance with design and operating procedures

Additional Responsibilities:

Communicates with outside vendors, as needed
Responsible for annual performance reviews for all engineering personnel
Reviews operating procedures

Education and Experience:

B.S.E.E., B.S.M.E., or other engineering degree with applicable experience
Previous Management experience required
Minimum ten (10) years of progressive on-the-job experience
o Nuclear industry-related experience a plus
o DOE-related experience a plus
Professional registration - required (PE)
Familiar with national consensus codes
Well-rounded (i.e., inter-disciplinary), practical (i.e., construction, start-up, and operation) experience a plus
Able to transition from design concept to finished design and field implementation, including review and checking of drawings performed by designers and drafters
Expertise with routine software, e.g. Word, Excel (additional analytical software experience a plus)
AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience a plus (not required)
