Alarm Suppression Operations

Length of Assignment: 1 year initial contract – option to extend based on performance for long term

This is onsite work.

Top 3 Required Skills
1) Knowledge of operational activities, including task characteristics, HSI (Human Systems Integration) characteristics, environmental characteristics, and technical requirements related to operational activities.
2) Knowledge of operational activities supporting HSI activities, such as developing HSIs, procedures, and training programs.
3) Ability to participate in task analyses, HSI tests and evaluations, validation, and other evaluations.

o Strong communication skills both verbal and written
o Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams

• Nice to Have Skills:
o Previous experience as a nuclear plant Alarm Suppression Operator
o Working knowledge of PLC, DCS, and other controls applications, especially Emerson Ovation systems
o Familiarity with nuclear power plant environments
o Familiarity with typical nuclear Piping & Instrument Diagrams (PI&D) and Test Loop Diagrams (TLD)
o Knowledge of instrumentation including temperature, pressure, flow, and analytical instrumentation.

• High Level Project Overview:
o Operations alarm suppression project staff will assess all DCS and Annunciator Alarms and determine which ones are critical to Control Room operations staff assessment of plant status and which alarms are nuisance/redundant for each major plant transient condition. Suppression logic shall be developed with Engineering team members to suppress all unnecessary DCS/PCS alarms in accordance with the guidance of NUREG-0700 revision 3.
o Operations alarm suppression project staff will work with all SLR Digital I&C Responsible Engineers to ensure the appropriate alarm suppression logic gets integrated with each System’s design scope.
o Operations alarm suppression project staff will work with the SLR DI&C Human Factors Engineering team to validate suppression logic design on the Glass Top Simulators prior to implementation of this logic into the plant.

o No other US nuclear plant has completed a full upgrade of a control room like this one

• Preferred Years of Experience:
o 15-20+; 5 years minimum of operations/control room experience
o Background in reviewing electrical prints

• Education:
o Engineer background/experience or degree
