Mechanical/Chemical Foundry Engineer

Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include design authority activities (design requirements, design review, establishing quality level for procurement, etc.) for the foundry or pyro-chemistry furnaces in support of the SRPPF project. Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
A forty (40) hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Workweek excludes SRNS holidays. SRNS Management will determine best schedule depending on work needs. Each workday has a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
Area Security Access:
A DOE security clearance is not initially required; however, candidate must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a DOE “Q” clearance.
BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Fifteen (15) years of Mechanical Engineering experience (within the last 30 years) in the nuclear or chemical process industry
Experience working with or designing casting furnaces or pyrochemical furnaces for use in a nuclear application
Experience in troubleshooting system deficiencies to recommend resolution
Able to present results in clear concise written documents
Able to walk down systems in the field and support nonconformance issues in re
Candidate must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a DOE “Q” clearance
2D Microstation CADD Experience
SRS Engineering or DOE facility experience
