Longenecker & Associates (L&A) seeks a motivated Mechanical Engineer to contribute to our mission supporting our work at Sandia National Laboratory in Albuquerque, NM.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The main duties include, but are not limited to:
Plans, conceives, conducts, or manages research and development for Sandia's customers and sponsors.
Directs systematic study toward a fuller knowledge or understanding of the fundamental
aspects of phenomena and of observable facts and discovers new approaches to achieve goals.
Creates new understandings and capabilities by using the scientific method's hypothesis,
Test, and evaluation techniques; critical review; or similar engineering research and development methods.
Initiates, designs, develops, executes, and evaluates new processes, products, or systems through basic and applied research.
Uses engineering principles to research, design, or develop structures, instruments,
Knowledge of machines, experiments, processes, systems, theories, or technologies; to construct or operate the same with full cognizance of their design; or to forecast their behavior under specific operating conditions.
Undertakes development and possible technology transfer of solutions, products, principles or technology.
Undertakes creative work, making systematic use of investigation or experimentation, to discover or revise knowledge of reality and uses this knowledge to devise new applications.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelorís degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience on aerospace or national defense mechanical system research and designs

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be a US Citizen,
Active DOE Q clearance or active DOD Secret or Top-Secret clearance
Proven strong analytical skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact constructively with all levels of management, subject matter experts and external agencies.

Telecommuting will be allowed, must be able to travel to the Albuquerque, NM or Livermore CA, areas up to one or two weeks per month

Must not be retired Sandia employee, subject to employment restrictions at Sandia.
Ability to work in a diverse work environment
Pre-placement physical examination, which includes drug screening, and inclusion in random drug testing program.

LOCATION
Sandia National Laboratory in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
