Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Nuclear Safety Engineer/USQ Writer for our customer in Oak Ridge, TN.

Job Description:

Supports processing and project activities as matrixed technical support staff providing the Operations Manager with Safety Analysis (SA) expertise and counsel on those activities.
Develops and implements the SA Program and the Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) Program, including development of related training materials.
Interfaces as directed with other external stakeholders (e.g., Defense Nuclear Facilities Review Board) relative to safety analysis activities and issues.
Assists in identification and/or development of SA implementation/compliance training in support of activities.
Functions as interpretative authority on technical matters related to SA Program, including applicable contract requirements.
Provides recommendations to the Nuclear Safety Manager regarding USQ issues and significant SA issues.
Responsible for preparation of safety basis documents and integrates SA and design for projects and major modifications, including development of safety design strategies, conceptual safety design reports, preliminary documented safety analysis, and back fit analysis. Ensures SA related documents and analysis are compliant with appropriate DOE command media and are technically accurate and defensible.
Reviews drafts of Work Packages, procedures, facility modifications, and other documents for integration of the SA into facility activities.
Provides technical support for emergency preparedness hazards screening and analysis; and transportation documented safety analysis as requested.
Performs assessments of the SA and USQ Programs and their implementation and participates in critiques/investigations involving SA related issues, as requested.
Develops and reports on SA performance indicators.
Supports the execution of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guiding principles and core functions and the Company Safety Culture.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; advance degree preferred.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in nuclear facility safety.
Proficiency in Hazards and Accident Analysis techniques and approaches.
Must be able to qualify as an Unreviewed Safety Question Determination Preparer, Reviewer, and Approver.
Department of Energy (DOE) project experience desired.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Strong communication, verbal and written skills.
Must be able to describe and interpret the essential principles, requirements, relationships and importance of DOE Orders and Standards, as applicable.
Must be able to coordinate complex technical and regulatory issues and documents with multiple disciplines and stake holders
