The Disciplined Operations Mentor (DOM) position is needed to bring additional judgment, experience, and knowledge to mentor client managers to implement and/or improve a disciplined approach to conducting technical operations.
The DOM’s primary role is to provide in-field support for the day-to-day conduct of operations through an inter-active coaching and mentoring process with the manager/management team(s) to which they are assigned.
The DOM program entails the designation and deployment of “seasoned” individuals who possess the requisite operational experience, knowledge, and aptitude required to effectively mentor (coach) management and staff in the field as they conduct their day-to-day operations.
The DOM may support the manager in preparing for or oversight of activities such as the startup of a new operation, integrated work document (IWD) development, plan of the day/week meetings, the conduct of high-hazard task planning and ROC drills, and/or the field oversight of complex activities where there would be a benefit to having additional observers present focus on learning and improvements in disciplined operations.
