[Rigger] Lead Rigging Engineer

HukariAscendent is a Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned, Small Business specializing in comprehensive engineering and technical support services associated with commercial nuclear power and Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear activities.
We are looking for a Lead Rigging Engineer with the following qualifications:

General Description
Provide support for rigging and lifting operations expertise specializing in rigging engineering. This position will play a key role in providing input and recommendations based on sound rigging and lifting principles such as writing and reviewing lift plans, oversight of subcontractor rigging plans, develop rigging and lifting procedures, identify heavy lifts and critical lifts, review and create instruction manuals and other technical data to ensure project constructability issues are minimized. In addition to using sound constructability principles, Subcontractor will use industry leading hardware and software technologies to achieve the constructability goals of the project. Work with other functional groups such as engineering, planning, procurement, and construction to review and recommend specific actions to facilitate constructability.

The Subcontractor will be a leader and advocate for constructability principles and will work with auxiliary groups to teach constructability concepts, best practices, construction details and lessons learned

Performance Requirements: The Lead Rigging Engineer is responsible to the Project Field Engineer for ensuring the safety and quality of the rigging and hoisting to be performed on the project.

Subcontractor duties include but is not limited to the following:
• Determine crane needs to support project.
• Identify heavy haul/lift items for estimates.
• Participate in site plot plan development (crane locations, transport routes, fabrication and dress-out areas and identifying utility interferences.
• Propose lifting solutions to maximize schedule and budget.
• Develop a project rigging program outlining work methods and plans for rigging operations,
• Oversight of subcontractor rigging operations
• Oversight of the Rigging Engineers
• Supervise the performance of the work as detailed below:
o Develop project specific rigging and lift procedures
o Support development of construction execution strategy
o Determine crane needs to support project
o Identify heavy haul/lift items for estimates
o Participate in site plot plan development crane locations, transport routes, fabrication and dress-out areas and identifying utility interferences
o Propose lifting solutions to maximize schedule and budget
o Select Haul/Lift Subcontractors
o Confirm Ground bearing requirements
o Identify potential critical lifts
o Develop lift and rigging plans
o Provide oversight of lifting operations
o Training and certification of craft riggers
o Identification, training, and certification of rigging competent persons
o Procurement of rigging materials, slings, shackles, beams, etc.
o required by the contract

Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures.
Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.

Education / Experience / Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related curriculum
• Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years in supporting commercial, federal science, or nuclear engineering projects or other task relevant programs with typically 4 years supporting projects in a management role.
• Experience in development and implementations of rigging programs and plans on heavy industrial, power, or commercial nuclear projects; preference given to candidates with Major EPC Project experience.
• Experience and familiarity with nuclear quality (e.g., NQA-1) and Nuclear Quality rigging requirements is preferred
• Working knowledge of the Savannah River Site Rigging Manual is preferred
• Experience developing and implementing rigging programs compliant with NQA-1 Part II is preferred

Estimated duration: One (1) one-year base period with two (2) one-year option periods.
2000 hr ST / 500 hr OT
