[HP/RCT] Senior Radiological Control Technician

Provide Radiological Control (RC) support as required by CH2M HILL BWXT West Valley, LLC (CHBWV). All personnel proposed are subject to CHBWV Management review and approval. Resumes of the newly proposed individual shall be provided to CHBWV. Proof of all training and qualification/certification shall be submitted with the resume for newly proposed individuals.

The Radiological Control Candidate shall possess the following qualifications prior to arrival:

29CFR1910.20 Hazardous Material (HAZWOPER) 40 Hour Training Qualification (initial qualification shall be at the expense of the subcontractor, re-qualification will be provided by CHBWV.

The technicians (Sr. RCT) shall qualify for the following within one (1) week of arrival:

1. Radiological Worker II (RWII)

2. Qualified WVDP Respiratory Protection User to site specific protection

3. DOE-RCT Core Manual Part I &Part II WVDP site specifics. Current NRRPT members will only need to take Part II with proof of current good standing.by verification.

Note: t he subcontractor will not be compensated for any travel expenses and/or hours worked if the candidate fails to obtain a passing grade on any qualification test after two attempts.

Additional qualifications are highly desirable:

1. New York State Asbestos Worker / Handler Certification

2. New York State Asbestos Project Monitor Certification

3. New York State Asbestos Air Sampling Technician Certification

For purposes of this Scope of Work, the Department of Energy (DOE) Core Training requirements are defined as the 13 Fundamental Academic Lessons Plan requirements as referenced in the DOE Radiological Control Technician Standardized Technician Qualification Standard, latest revision.


Sr. Radiological Control Technician (Sr. RCT)

Sr. RCTs perform and document radiation and contamination surveys, collect and analyze air samples, operate radiation monitoring, and gross radioactivity measuring instruments and respond to emergency/off normal conditions. Ensure the radiological safety of workers by providing radiological guidance and support for various project activities. Perform routine surveillance and maintenance of radiological postings and assessments of radiological controls at site facilities.

Sr. RCTs will have prior experience in Radiation Protection as listed below:

1. Certified by the American Board of Health Physicists (CHP); or,

2. Certified as a Registered Radiation Protection Technologist, as determined by the Board of the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT); or,

3. Prior experience of (3 yrs. Minimum, or equivalent combination of schooling and experience as determined by the Radiation Safety Manager.) and verification of certification as being DOE RCT Core qualified at another DOE facility.

4. Prior qualification as US Navy Engineering Laboratory Technician or equivalent, as demonstrated with past qualification under NAVSEA 389-0288 Article 108, or NAVSEA S9213-33-MMA-000/(V) Article 108; or,

5. Prior qualification as a Senior Radiological Controls Technician under ANSI/ANS 3.1-1987; or Previous qualification in approved DOE Core RCT training program.

S r. RCTs will receive additional training from CHBWV in accordance with the West Valley Demonstration Project Radiological Controls Manual as required to perform the scope of work. The CHBWV training and qualification program will include:

Written exams and/or oral evaluations to verify qualification. This includes completion of the DOE RCT Core test, prior to start of work at the WVDP. If the technician candidate possesses a current core card the CHBWV Radiological Safety Manager may waive the pre-test requirement.

Training in facility procedures or equipment associated with authorized duties
Training on recent operating experiences.
Observations of on-the-job performances by CHBWV Radiological Controls Supervision.
