[Mechanical Engineer] Mechanical Procurement Integrator, Senior Engineer

General Description:
The purpose of this position is to provide design authority engineering procurement support to the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) project as a Mechanical Engineering Design Engineering Procurement Integrator. Primary responsibilities include oversite of Architect Engineering (AE) firms, and other specialty equipment contracts and suppliers required to support the SRPPF project. Safety is a primary responsibility for all employees working on and off SRS. Subcontractor shall obtain safety training, obey safety rules, and make safety an integral part of each task.
Duties:
Subcontractor duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Technical oversite of design build firms, Architect Engineering (AE) firms, and other specialty equipment contracts and suppliers required to support the SRPPF project.
• Coordinate review of design documents and subcontract (s) records among various organizations such as Operations, Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Business Services, etc.
• Provide technical design support to procurement/acquisition of mechanical equipment.
• Provide technical support for the resolution of Supplier/Subcontractor RFIs, SDDRs, and NCRs.
• Provide technical support to the review and processing of Subcontract Submittals in accordance with subcontract submittals schedule.
• Occasional travel is required.
Experience / Skills:
• AS or BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering Current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
• Working knowledge of code of federal regulations (CFRs) and DOE Orders associated with capital projects is a plus.
• Understanding of the EVMS project management methods and principles is preferred.
• Experience in working with P6 Schedule controls is preferred.
• Experience in the review and approval of design and procurement specifications for mechanical plant components.
• Experienced in the screening and determination process to identify plant components safety functions and functional classifications.
• Experienced in the screening and determination process to identify and extract critical design characteristics and critical characteristics for commercial grade dedication.
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of management and business professionals regarding project requirements and project constructability.
• Experienced with 10 or more years design experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering including two or more years providing support to the procurement/acquisition of plant components and materials.
• Demonstrate experience in design and procurement support in one or more of the following areas: HVAC flow, Process Flow; Rotating Equipment, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Equipment Data sheets; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; Sizing Calculations, and Vendor Document Reviews.
• Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures is preferred.
• Working design and procurement engineering experience in a nuclear industry/facility is preferred.
• Experience in 2D Microstation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) is preferred.
Site Conditions:
• Subcontractor personnel work shall be performed at SRS and various off-site locations. Subcontractor personnel will receive SRS General Employee Training and other training necessary to work at SRS. While on-site, subcontractor personnel shall be required to comply with the SRS Employee Safety Manual. 3.4 Period of Performance Schedule
• Work schedule will be a nominal 40-hour work week but can be part-time or with interruption between on-site requirements dependent on the support requirements necessary for the project. It is estimated that each standard year will consist of two-thousand and eighty hours.
• The period of performance shall be for one year from award. SRNS reserves the right for two additional one-year option periods.
Qualification Criteria:
• An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. Subcontract personnel must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. After award, the selected uncleared candidate may be required to apply for a DOE clearance.
