[Instrumentation Engineer] I&C/Electrical Engineer - LEAD/SUPERVISOR

United has established a center of excellence for I&C engineering to support a portfolio of nuclear plant modifications and new plant designs. We’re looking to expand the group hiring early, mid-level and supervisory I&C positions. These opportunities will support career development and growth as United expands its portfolio in the nuclear market. United has over 60 years of continuous experience in design, construction and upgrades of nuclear power plants. We are the AE and/or constructor of record for (52) nuclear units globally.

Job Description:

Candidate will lead a team of I&C Engineers supporting our growing work for the Nuclear Industry. Work will include:

· Engineering for operating plants in the U.S. including preparation of Engineering Change Packages including plant digital upgrades. Work includes preparation of packages that include specifications and data sheets, calculations, and modifications to existing plant drawings; provide support to proposals, prepare purchase requisitions; review vendor drawings and develop cost and budget estimates and schedules and scope of work documents

· Designs for New Generation Nuclear plants including Small Modular Reactors (SMR), including development of conceptual design and related design basis documents to support licensing of new Nuclear Generating Plant, preparation of specifications and bid packages for control systems, and detailed I&C design for a new generating plant.

· Supervisory responsibilities include preparation of proposals, schedules and budgets; monitoring and reporting budget and schedule performance; and providing technical leadership to engineers and designers for the I&C Discipline

· Candidate will support multiple projects and will coordinate activities with clients, contractors, vendors and other members of the project teams

Minimum Requirements:

B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering from an accredited 4-year university with course work in Control Systems
Professional Engineering (PE) License in any state in the U.S. with ability to obtain licensure in other states by comity
15 years overall experience in design of control systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities
5 years of experience in I&C design for Nuclear plants in North America including new plants or modification of existing operating plants
5 years of experience in a supervisory role leading a team of engineers and designers
Must be a Citizen of the U.S. or Canada and able to obtain unescorted access to a U.S. Nuclear Power Plant


Experience to include:

For New generation Plants: Development of Control System architecture and Design Basis Documents
For Modifications to operating Nuclear plants: Familiarity with the Nuclear standard Design Process, and experience preparing engineering drawings including but not limited to wiring diagrams and schematics, P&IDs, logic diagrams, instrument hookups, etc. for plant modification packages including digital upgrades
Preparation of specifications for control systems for plant process/auxiliary systems
Preparation and review of logic diagrams and system functional descriptions for implementation of system control logic into plant control systems
Experience evaluating and specifying pressure, temperature, flow, and level process instrumentation)
Experience performing calculations for a Nuclear plant such as instrument set-points
Familiarity with IEEE, EPRI, ISA and IAEA Codes and Standards and NRC Reg Guides relating to Nuclear plant licensing and design
Supervisory experience to include preparation and control of budgets and schedules for I&C engineering/design group, preparation of material and engineering cost estimates, and technical supervision of engineering/design team
Good written and oral communication skills. Must be able to interface with other members of the project team including other disciplines, client, contractors and vendors.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Expertise using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio and Teams

Preferred Requirements:

NCEES record for PE Licensure
5 years of experience on design for new Nuclear Generating Station
Experience with Digital Upgrades at operating Nuclear plants.
Familiarity with NEI 08-09 and experience with performing cyber-security assessments
Experience with NUREG 0800, Chapters 7, 8 and 18.
Experience with Human Factors Engineering
